Reduce the adverse effects of Information & Communication Technology on our Earth and Humanity by using it Sustainably and Disposing it responsibly, aiming for zero waste to earth.

As human beings, we are corrupting the Earth through over-production, over-consumption and over-waste. Digital and ICT technologies are no different in their contribution to this waste. SustainableTech’s mission is to restore the lost balance in our Earth and Humanity by addressing ICT Sustainability challenges.

Our founder, Farooq Azam, is a corporate veteran of 25yrs having worked for major blue-chip organizations and establishing two business ventures previously. Farooq felt responsible for contributing to this breakneck technology pace and the churning out of Digital technologies in some cases with no market demand.

Since 2019 when Sustainable Tech was launched, we have been delivering projects that ensure our customers use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions is responsible and “sustainable” while also leveraging Digital Technologies to address Sustainability challenges for Smart Cities including efficient use of their limited resources.

Once the ICT hardware is outdated or end of life, we can help with Asset disposition and e-waste recycling ensuring zero waste reaches the landfill. This also supports the circular economy with reuse of raw materials.

Our Leadership

Farooq Azam

Founder & Principal

Farooq is an experienced Digital Transformation Leader and Entrepreneur with 25 yrs experience working for Smart Cities, Telco, Public sector and Enterprise customers across Middle East, North America, Europe and South Korea. He led Consulting and Professional Services engagements and held Senior Leadership roles with P&L responsibility at Nokia (Country Manager), Ericsson, Bell, TELUS and Ooredoo (Director). He co-founded and ran two startups, in between corporate stints, Bluestack Cloud, an AWS Services partner and KAZAM, a Strategy Consulting firm.

He feels responsible for having contributed to the technological innovation that churns out Digital technologies at immense speeds, and in some cases with no market demand, exacerbating the e-waste problem. Therefore, to play his part in protecting the planet, in 2019 he launched Sustainable Tech, delivering projects that use ICT solutions and Digital technologies to address Sustainability challenges (e.g. Smart city), while also helping organization reduce their ICT carbon footprint and e-waste.

He is passionate about using Technology for Good, offers pro bono consulting to NGOs, mentors start-ups and has spoken at conferences including the Smart City expo.
